Classic & Structured — Matsu El Viejo 2021 is the top-tier red from Bodegas Matsu — a powerful, elegant expression of old-vine Tempranillo from centuries-old vineyards in the Toro plateau. It displays a deep cherry-red colour with violet hues, and has undergone around 16 months in French oak barrels, adding complexity and refinement. The nose is intense and multi-layered with ripe black fruits, spice, toasted oak and smoky notes woven together. On the palate it’s full-bodied and richly textured, with mature tannins, concentrated dark fruit, cedar and spice, culminating in a long, persistent finish that marries fruit with oak-derived depth.
